Why we do not want to be on every shelf

Waarom we niet in elk schap willen liggen

A brand that is everywhere is nowhere special. Il Belga Barbuto deliberately chooses the opposite: a limited number of places, carefully chosen, by region. Not from a lack of ambition, but from an idea of what rarity is worth.

What selective distribution means

Selective distribution means a product does not end up on every shelf, but only in places that suit the brand. A small circle of partners per region, no broad rollout. The result is that you do not come across our beard oil everywhere, and that is the intention. What you find effortlessly everywhere loses something of its worth. What you have to seek out on purpose keeps its meaning.

Why scarcity is a choice, not a shortage

Scarcity can mean two things. A shortage, something that has run out, or a choice, something of which there is deliberately little. With us it is the second. We make in small batches, with a certified Italian laboratory, and we distribute with restraint. That is not a strategy to lure, it is a conviction: quality over reach. Whoever read why we do not compete on price will recognise the same thought in another guise.

Not made for everyone

There is a quiet confidence in a brand that does not try to convince everyone. We speak to the man who recognises quality without needing it explained, who does not need to shout his character. That excludes people, and that is fine. A beard oil meant for everyone is made for no one in particular.

Real luxury lies in the rare, not in the omnipresent.
